What you can expect:

  • Understanding and making the most of photographic technology:

    • Various photo trap models and their differences (DSLR photo traps, infrared, white light, black flash)

    • Housing construction and weather protection for your photographic equipment

    • Selecting the right sensors

    • Use of flash

    • Camera settings such as shutter speed, aperture selection and ISO for perfect shots

    • Dealing with shutter delays and frame rates for dynamic scenes

  • Energy and storage management:

    • Practical tips for long off-road standing times

    • Choosing the right batteries for your camera technology

  • Site selection and camouflage:

    • Track reading and recognizing animal tracks for a successful search for subjects

    • Micro-locations for perfect image composition and interesting animal motifs

    • Camouflage housing and self-built constructions for demanding conditions

    • Different types of mounting (tripods, trees, ground mounting) for optimal photo location

Morning

Technical introduction

In the morning we start with a technical introduction to wildlife photography: what is a photo trap, how does it work and what options are available on the market? We will discuss basic camera settings and photography techniques for optimal results.

Noon

Lunch

We will take a lunch break together, during which we will of course talk about our experiences in outdoor photography.

Afternoon

Site selection and setup

Where do I set up the camera? How do I find the right, photographically interesting place? How do animals react to the photo traps? We discuss all of this in the afternoon and bring the day to a close. We provide practical tips on finding the right subject and composition for impressive nature shots.
