The Flaucher<\/strong> is one of the most beautiful stretches along the Isar in Munich. Located between Thalkirchener Br\u00fccke<\/strong> and Candidstra\u00dfe<\/strong>, this section of the river stretches across numerous small gravel islands<\/strong>, natural beaches<\/strong> and the famous Flauchersteg<\/strong>, which conveniently connects all the islands. The Flaucher is a real highlight, especially for nature and wildlife photographers in Munich<\/strong> - not least because of the large number of water birds that can be observed and photographed here. <\/p>\n\n

Swans at the Flaucher - a unique photo motif<\/h3>\n

What makes the Flaucher so special is its impressive swan population<\/strong>. Over a hundred animals often gather here, especially in spring. The swans have become accustomed to the many walkers and day-trippers, are surprisingly trusting and can be photographed at close range. Those who like to work with a wide-angle lens<\/strong> will find the best conditions here. At the same time, fans of telephoto photography<\/strong> will also get their money's worth, for example when capturing details in the plumage or flight shots. <\/p>\n

The area above the point marked in green on the map, upstream of the M\u00fchlbach dam<\/strong>, is particularly worthwhile. The landscape opens up there, and there is only a single bridge in the background, which can be easily hidden from view. The bank is surrounded by less dense vegetation - ideal for a clear view of what is happening in the water. <\/p>\n\n

In the early morning or late afternoon, when the light is soft and there are fewer people around, you can photograph mating or bathing swans<\/strong> and other water birds undisturbed. The water looks particularly beautiful under a blue sky<\/strong>, when the light is reflected and the colors appear stronger. The shutter speeds<\/strong> are then also fast enough to capture movements such as animals taking off or landing<\/strong> in razor-sharp detail. <\/p>\n

Biodiversity on the Isar: not just swans<\/h3>\n

In addition to swans, you will also regularly see greylag geese (Anser anser)<\/strong> at the Flaucher, which show their territorial behavior here and also offer good motifs. With a bit of luck, goosanders<\/strong>, bar-headed geese<\/strong> and other wild birds can also be spotted. If you are looking for varied subjects for nature photography in Munich<\/strong>, you will find a real Eldorado here. <\/p>\n

Parking and arrival<\/h3>\n

The best parking option is in the parking lot marked in blue in the immediate vicinity of the Flaucher. The parking fee in 2013 was a flat rate of \u20ac3.50 (cash, collected manually). It can get very crowded at weekends<\/strong> and when the weather is nice - so a visit during the week in the morning or late afternoon<\/strong> is ideal, when the area empties out a little. <\/p>\n\n
