When the sun never sleeps – The wilderness of Scandinavia
Year: | 2011-2016 |
Location: | Norway, Sweden, Finland |
The north is quiet – and yet full of life. Mist lies over the forests, the light dances on quiet lakes, and between mosses and bogs there are moments that you will never forget. I have traveled, driven by a longing for wilderness. For closeness to animals that rarely show themselves – and that is precisely why they touch me.
A barred owl in the first morning light. A barred owl, silently among old trees. Bears stepping cautiously out of the shadows. Double-tailed godwits singing in the endless twilight. A horned grebe, brightly colored in the dark water.
My pictures tell of encounters – not of hunting. Of amazement, of waiting. Of the luck of being in the right place at the right time. Scandinavia changed me. It showed me how much silence can say – and how alive a night is when the sun never sleeps.
“When the sun doesn’t sleep” is my photographic portrait of a wild, light-flooded north. A summer full of magic – and closeness to nature.
