In the shadow of the forest – on the trail of the lynx

Quietly, almost silently, the lynx roams through our forests – and yet remains invisible to many. With my camera, I follow the tracks of these stealthy hunters to capture their return to Germany in pictures. My photo project follows the lynx in the Bavarian Forest: from shy loner to symbol of wilderness and biodiversity.

But it is more than just nature photography. It’s about conflict, acceptance – and about life and death. Time and again, lynx are killed illegally. With my pictures, I not only document the beauty of these animals, but also the fragile path of their return. Supported by biologists, foresters and volunteers, this project shows how species conservation can succeed – and where it fails.

I photograph for visibility. For empathy. For a future in which the lynx has its place.
