Overview
Wilderness in detail.
Early in the morning, there is still a chill between the granite blocks. A female leopard stretches on a rocky ledge; below, the first goats of a Rabari herd move through the dry grass. Bera–Jawai in the Aravalli Hills of Rajasthan is one of the few landscapes where these two scenes meet in the same setting.
Unlike the classic tiger parks, leopards here roam freely between granite caves, sacred sites, and shepherd settlements. The Rabari, a semi-nomadic pastoral community, have shared this land with the big cats for generations — a balance rooted in respect and religious tradition. Sloth bears, hyenas, mugger crocodiles at Jawai Bandh Lake, and more than 150 bird species also live here.
From 6 to 15 November 2027, we will travel together with our partner Gaia Tales into this semi-arid landscape. Seven nights at Bera Safari Lodge, 13 game drives, plus encounters with the Rabari, a cave temple with bats and langurs, and a walk through the village.
Optionally, from 15 to 19 November, a five-day tiger extension to Panna or Tadoba follows — for anyone who would also like to photograph Bengal tigers.
What makes this trip special
Where leopards and shepherds live side by side.
Bera is not classic wilderness. It is a cultural landscape where people and big cats have shared the same land for generations — calm, respectful, almost taken for granted. This coexistence shapes every image made here.
Four formats for maximum photographic variety
